Everyone went out on excursions looking for the best ones at the mall, but not you. You just opened your closet and grabbed your favorite of the day.
On that day, it happened to be one of your prized possessions—a big, green, woolly mess with Rudolph stitched on front. You don’t need to ask if there was a red nose sticking out. Of course there was, and it glowed red if you squeezed it.
Long before December, you built your collection. You were always on the hunt. Last year, you found out Britney Spears sold one in her online store, with “Merry Britmas” on the back. Holiday Spear-it and a nod to nostalgia? You had to have it. Granted, you had a “Britmas” sweater with the flag of Great Britain. But you already wore that once, so it was time for retirement. There were more awesome sweaters to wear and not enough days in the year!
Well, at least to you. That’s the funny thing. The general public long lost their interest in Ugly Holiday Sweaters. When taking trips to your local Target or clothing store geared towards trendy teens, you only find a few of these sweet stitches of fabrics and they look untouched each time. Even if the whole store is practically empty, the rack with those sweaters seems to be fully stocked. Everyone is over it. Except for you!
So, when you took a trip to BoxLunch at the Glendale Galleria and found a Rick and Morty-themed pullover, you almost bought two. And don’t forget about that pink-and-blue Aristocats sweater. The cashier may have looked at you weirdly, but cat ladies around the world were jealous. If companies keep pushing them out, you’ll keep buying. When they stop, you could start looking online, which always offers things you didn’t know existed. After all, that’s how you found your famed Wu-Tang Clan sweater. Lots of people didn’t get it and asked why you’re sporting a bat sweater past October, but they’re just uncultured.
The problem now is that you’re running out of room in your hall closet in your midcentury South Pas duplex. Where are you going to store new pieces? Guess it’s time to upgrade to storage. You wouldn’t want to keep wearing old sweaters now, would you?
