At Storbox, we understand that the process of packing, moving, and storing your items can be a complicated process, but nothing can make it more difficult, or painful, than getting injured while doing it. To make your move as simple and uncomplicated as possible, it is important to not only take into account the most efficient ways to pack and store your items, but how to move them in a safe and proper manner.
- Watch Your Back – While lifting and carrying your boxes, even a short distance, it is important to lift with your legs, not your back. When lifting an item, bend your knees and keep your back straight to lower to the ground, then lift with your legs while keeping your back straight and stomach muscles tight. DO NOT bend over and lift with your back.
- Clear a Path – Do not walk across a cluttered floor while carrying items; you will most likely not be able to see everything in your way. This can easily lead to a trip and fall, which will not only damage your items, but lead to injuries.
- Proper Packing – Do not overload the boxes you are packing. Some may load up each box as much as possible in order to cut down on the amount of boxes, but this can cause each box to be excessively heavy. This can cause the box to fall apart if it cannot support the weight or people to injure themselves if the box weighs more than they expected.
