If you have been put on hold multiple times by a customer service representative, it can be frustrating. It is rather common for those in customer service to be at the receiving end of choice curse words. Some businesses are more likely than others to get cussed out during a routine day at the office. Thanks to a new study, we now know just how often people curse out companies and what types of companies are most often on the receiving end of a profanity-filled rant.
The Marchex Institute recently conducted a study to determine the types of businesses that are cursed at the most by consumers. They reviewed more than 1.2 million phone calls to various companies and evaluated the prevalence of profanity. The companies that are cursed at the most include satellite companies, contractors, cable companies, auto repair companies, tow truck companies, and self-storage companies. A&E has begun filming Season 5 of Storage Wars in and around Los Angeles! For those of you who haven’t seen it yet, it is a reality television series based around the sale of storage units that have not been paid for. So, of course, we here at STORBOX are immediately interested.
In California, if you fail to pay for your storage locker for a prolonged period of time, an auctioneer can sell the contents. Saying that something is a good investment typically means that it is beneficial in one way or another. The time you put into house-training your new puppy is a good investment because it means your house will stay clean and fresh-smelling and you won’t have to clean it more often than you have to. Then there is the more literal meaning of a “good investment,” which means that actually investing money into something gives you low risk and high returns. And, wouldn’t you know it, self-storage is a good investment figuratively as well as literally!
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the best real estate investment over the last 10 years was not five-star resorts or office towers, but self-storage! Not only is self-storage a good investment for the people who rent the unit, but also for actual investors. Self-storage companies produced the best risk-adjusted return when compared with 10 U.S. real estate investment trust indexes. With their steady cash flow growth and low debt ratios, self-storage companies attracted many investors. One of the main reasons self-storage companies are so attractive to investors is the same reason self-storage is a good investment for consumers: they provide a consistent and valuable service. Different people have their own uses for self-storage. Some may use it to store seasonal clothes; some may use it to store old furniture; and some may use it to store all the household knick-knacks that just keep getting shoved into corners. There is another use for self-storage, however: secrets. If you don’t want people to know something about you or your family, be it a little quirk, an odd fact, or even a cultural or religious tradition, what better place to hide it than self-storage?
If you are going to use your self-storage unit for family secrets though, you should make sure you keep up with your rent, or your secrets are going to be auctioned off along with the full-size Stormtrooper and collection of buttons. One such secret was discovered in a self-storage unit in Clearwater, Florida. Read the rest »
