First and foremost … Happy 4th of July from your friends at STORBOX! There is a lot to celebrate come July 4th, such as perfect beach weather, summer pool parties, barbecue get-togethers, convenient self-storage (we celebrate this all year-round) and, of course, America’s Independence Day!
Fourth of July or Independence Day?
The Fourth of July holiday is also referred to as Independence Day and has been a federal holiday in the U.S. since 1941, but it was celebrated even before it was an official holiday. In 1776, in the early days of the American Revolution (1775-1783), representatives from the 13 colonies formed the Continental Congress and, on July 2nd, voted in favor of independence from British rule. Two days later, on July 4th, they adopted the Declaration of Independence, which was drafted by Thomas Jefferson. Since that day, the Fourth of July has been celebrated as the first day of American independence.
Today, Fourth of July is celebrated with fireworks, family barbecues, parades, and other events, complete with American flags, streamers and any other red, white, and blue decorations and novelties you can think of. And the best news of all? After you’re done celebrating with all the red, white, and blue you can muster, you can store them all in your very own self-storage unit until next year!
