Part of the fun during the holidays is decorating! Okay, so holiday food is usually the best part, but decorating is not far behind. Now that the weather is getting colder (thank goodness!) and September winds down, we look toward the first major holiday…Halloween! There are a couple of other special days in October, but Columbus Day and United Nations Day can’t really compete with bags of candy.
Now, The Question Is … Do You Decorate for Halloween?
If yes, do you know where all your decorations are? (If that’s a “No,” then it may be time to consider renting a little storage unit to keep all your seasonal decorations. Being a self-storage facility and all, I guess we could possibly help you out with that).
If yes and you DO know where all your decorations are, then hooray! Well done!
If you don’t decorate for Halloween, then we are here to say it’s never too late to start! Well, actually, decorating for Halloween in November would be too late, but we just mean the broad sense of late.
So what does a first time Halloween decorator or a veteran Halloween decorator who wants to try something different need?
Halloween Decorating Themes
If you’ve never decorated for Halloween before, it’s a good idea to come up with a theme so you can focus on certain decorations. Here are a few theme ideas:
Haunted Mansion – With this theme, you want to make your house look dilapidated and, well, haunted. You can drape white sheets over all your furniture; throw a few cobwebs with plastic black spiders in corners and maybe even a skeleton sitting at a desk (that you don’t use, obviously).
Arachnophobia – As you may have guessed, this theme involves decorating with spiders, lots and lots of spiders! All you need to buy are bags of spider web and a wide selection of spiders in various sizes, shapes, and colors. You can add spider web to trees in your front yard and throw a big spider into it. The idea with this theme is to use as much spider web and as many spiders as you can without impeding your ability to actually move. You don’t want to get stuck in a web trying to leave for work in the morning. WARNING: This theme requires a lot of clean-up.
