Although it’s been said many times and in many ways, the holidays are a festive and fun time of year when family and friends can let bygones be bygones and focus on what they like and love about each other while giving gifts, eating (hopefully) good food, and drinking delicious drinks. But when the holidays are over, reality rears its occasionally ugly head to let you know that it is now clean-up time.
Cleaning up after the holidays, especially if you go all out with Christmas decorations, can be a pain, but as long as you have a process and know the following things, you’re set:
- What needs to be packed up (Christmas ornaments, holiday tablecloths, holiday table place settings, etc.).
- What it is going to get packed up in (cardboard boxes, plastic tubs, vacuum sealed bags, etc.).
- Where it’s going after it gets packed up (basement, attic, garage, self-storage unit – we would say “etc.” but those are pretty much it).
Of course there are more specific tips we can give you than just making sure to plan out those three things, like be sure to label everything so you know where to find it next year and make sure to wrap fragile items in bubble wrap or include packing peanuts. But ultimately, if you have those three things set, you’re golden.
