As a nerd.
A super-awesome, pop-culture-savvy, movie-and-comic-book-loving nerd.
That’s right—July 20 through July 23 is…COMIC CON!
San Diego Comic Con, love it or hate it, is a force to be reckoned with. And so are you, in that Wonder Woman costume. Sure, the other guys may laugh at you, but it was the best superhero movie we’d all seen in a long time. That Gal Gadot was no wimp, and neither are you. Be bold and show those thighs!
Cosplay, if not all the rage with the general population, is at least out from under the shadows of societal stigma. With the new Syfy show, Cosplay Melee, displaying the level of skill and dedication it takes to be a quality cosplayer, dressing up as a fictional character has never been so cool.
Some characters are easy enough to play, and can be laughed off in unfriendly situations. You’re not dressed as Harry Potter; you’re a man with a chill who needs to wear a black robe. Doctor’s orders. Explaining the lightning scar on your forehead will just take more creativity.
Once the closet doors have been opened to this fun and addictive endeavor, you’ll find plenty of situations where you can cosplay. The Renaissance Pleasure Faire. Other sci-fi conventions like Phoenix Con or Anime Con. Halloween. Your 5-year-old cousin’s princess birthday party. At Disneyland. Out grocery shopping. The list is truly endless.
And as you gain new cosplaying items—the wigs, the fake armor, the scary-looking weapons—you’ll need a place to keep them. A place for your “other” wardrobe. Safe from your mother’s exasperated sighs and intrusive queries as to whether this is really the best time commitment for a grownup. (It totally is.)
STORBOX Self-Storage, swooping in to save the day! Not only is your unit protected from all prying eyes (we know cosplaying can be competitive)—but you can turn it into a virtual shrine to your fandoms. Or just go with a standard Bat-Cave with Bat-Closet (no real bats, please). It’s up to you. Your STORBOX unit is a bastion of your imagination, and we’ll keep it that way.
To put the booted swing in your step, contact our friendly storage counselors at (626) 407-3439. STORBOX units are accessible seven days a week, so you can come in advance or right before your event. Enter our gates as plain John Smith, but leave as The Terminator. In self-storage, we’re all individuals, so come on down and see what we can set up for you!
