Living in California means coming to terms with “The Big One.” And no, we’re not referring to the monumental, amazing burrito at the Mexican food place on the corner. You should really try that out, though.
But of course, Californians always must be ready for THE big earthquake that was supposed to happen…like years ago. Similar to the fabled Beyoncé and Jay-Z joint album, it’s been talked about forever—but alas, nothing. We’re all waiting. Anytime the floor shakes slightly more than usual, it’s on our minds. It always ends up being a large semi-truck, though. Is it wrong to be disappointed that it’s not an earthquake?
It’s not like you’re prepared, though. The last time you assembled an earthquake safety kit, you were in middle school. There’s no way that granola bar you packed is still consumable. But at least Beary the Bear (very original) will still keep you safe!
So, what exactly do you need to pack to be prepared? We know, you’re just asking for a friend.
Well, it’s good to make sure you have some non-perishable foods and drinks on deck. After all, if the electricity goes out, everything in the refrigerator is going to go bad. Plus, how can you heat up pizza rolls with no electricity? This means packing some water bottles, canned goods, and yes, you can go buy more granola bars. It would be wise to also stock up on some over-the-counter medications you might need. Maybe some pain medication, some Tums if those granola bars have dairy…anything you think you might need.
If you have pets or kids (or both), you’ll need to stock up on food and supplies for them, too. You don’t know what’s going to actually happen—you’ve only seen slightly cheesy movies, maybe starring Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson. But who knows, access to markets and stores might be limited.
Feminine supplies for the women in your residence, extra household cleaning supplies, and sleeping bags—there’s so much to keep track of! You may not have enough room in your tiny apartment! So where can you go for storage?
Head to StorBox, perfectly situated between fault lines! We’re honored…we think. With unit sizes from 5×5 and 10×30 square feet, you have room to store whatever you need to prepare for the big earthquake, even your Celine Dion CD collection! You never know…
