Here’s a great New Year’s resolution that everyone should keep: get organized!
If you are running out of room at your home and the clutter is becoming an eyesore, it’s time to make some changes. Don’t let boxes and messes take over your life. There are ways to get rid of the clutter.
Assess What You Have
When taking stock of everything you have, you may be surprised by what you need and what you no longer use. There are many things, such as holiday decorations, that you need to store, but don’t need for most of the year. There are other items that you simply no longer need around the house. Make a list of items you want to store, want to sell, and what you should just throw out.
Make Some Money
There may be items that you no longer need that are of value to others. If you have a lot of stuff, it may be time to have a yard sale. This way, you can sell everything at once without having to worry about those pesky shipping costs. For your more valuable items, you may want to consider websites like eBay, where you can sell online to people around the world who will pay for the true worth of your item. If you have larger items that would cost too much to ship, consider sites like Craigslist. By using a specific location, you can find local buyers who can pick up the item from your home.
Recycle and Donate
You can recycle a large number of items including electronics, batteries, light bulbs, and metals. There are even collection events from time to time where people can drop off large items for recycling. If, however, the item is still functional and useful, you may want to donate it. There are a number of local organizations that can use the donation and the value of your donation is tax deductible.
